- Does the thought of using a sewing machine for the first time intimidate you?
- Do you own a sewing machine but you're not sure how to use it?
- Would you like to learn how to sew in the comfort of your own home?
If this is you, then you, my friend, are in the right place!
This is a brand new Online Video Class from M Avery Designs Sewing Studio!
I'm Megan Avery and I've been teaching people how to sew for about the last 14 years.
I have a sewing studio in Hoboken NJ. In my studio we host sewing classes to people of all ages just about every day of the week.
Lately, I'm on a quest to teach even more people how to sew, so I created this brand new online video sewing class Sewing Machine Basics.
It's a basic sewing class that we've taught in my sewing studio since day one.
I have to say, this video class is as good, if not better, than the class at my studio.
Here is what we'll cover in this online sewing class:
- Parts of the Sewing Machine
- Threading the Sewing Machine
- Winding & Threading the Bobbin
- Using the Sewing Machine (including backstitching, sewing curves/corners)
- The Sewing Maze
- Seam Allowance Explained
- Stitch Width & Length Explained
- Decorative Stitches
- How to Make a small Pillow/Pin Cushion
Most of this video sewing class is demonstrated on a Brother SB700t sewing machine, but everything taught in this online class can be applied to any home sewing machine you own.
Plus - As a bonus I've included videos of older model sewing machines being threaded.
"Megan is a super friendly instructor who explains things very clearly and in detail. She is extremely personably and welcoming. The class was informative and covered everything oh need to know about the basics of a sewing machine. We even made our own little pin cushion. Awesome!!!"
"Megan was great & she's a very patient instructor. I had never touched a sewing machine in my life so it was an educational experience. With more time invested I believe I will be able to complete an outfit."
The first thing Megan Avery ever sewed is a quilted jacket with giant frog toggles. It was a project for jer 4-H Club Clothing Review when she was ten and an active member in her local 4-H club the, Handy Helpers. What she loves most about teaching sewing is that she can relive this experience almost daily with her sewing students. Her studio M Avery Designs, and sewing, still bring her the same happiness she felt at ten sewing with the 4-H Club. She strives to pass this on to her students, from kids as young as age 6 to adults who have never picked up a needle and thread.
As a full time creative entrepreneur for the last 18 years, Megan has gone from custom handbag designer, to sewing instructor & studio owner, to creative business coach. Her business has changed & developed a great deal over the years. She’s proven that being a sewing instructor doesn’t have to be “just for fun” by successfully earning a proper living, each year surpassing her sales totals from the year before.
She continues to be invigorated by her latest business endeavor, Hipstitch Academy, which aims to help other people start & grow their very own sewing businesses. Hipstitch Academy does this by providing sewing patterns, curriculum & training. She hopes to help other bosses create successful sewing businesses, similar to her own.
